While perfectionism can be viewed as a positive quality, it can have a negative effect on your test taking performance. As we discussed in previous articles, perfectionism can lead to test anxiety and actually compromise how well you perform.

Tip #3 Remember Past Successes

One way to take the edge off is to recall some of your past successes. Specifically try to recall times where you still found success even though you were not perfect. Perfectionists tend to equate success with being perfect, but some of the most successful people in their fields are imperfect. Remember, most Olympians who win gold medals do so with a high score, but not a perfect score. You don’t have to be perfect to pass!

We all know the Florida Educational Leadership Exam is very challenging. FELE Multiple Choice Preparation Strategies

We are continuing our series discussing some strategies to help you prepare for the multiple choice sections of the Florida Educational Leadership Exam.  The FELE consists of three Subtests, all of which have multiple choice questions.  Following a few simple strategies can help increase your chances of success.  Our previous article covered the importance of reading the question all the way through before answering and answering the question in your head before looking at the choices.  Today, we will look at more FELE test prep strategies for answering multiple choice questions.

Review Choices and Eliminate Obvious Incorrect Answers

We discussed in our previous article how you should first answer the question in your head before looking at the choices. Once you have done this, then you should carefully review ALL of the choices and eliminate the ones you know for certain are incorrect.  Narrowing down your choices will help you as you work to determine the correct answer.

Go with Your Gut!

Sometimes just going with your gut can lead you to the correct answer. Be careful not to analyze the options to the point where you become paralyzed as you strive to determine your answer. When in total doubt, go with your gut.

Tips to Help You Prepare for the FELE Multiple Choice Questions

The Florida Educational Leadership Exam is a challenging test, but there are some tips and tricks you can use to help you as you work through each section. Our next series of articles will offer strategies to help you navigate through the multiple choice portions of the Florida Educational Leadership Exam.

Read the Question Slowly and All the Way Through

It is important to read each question slowly and thoroughly, multiple times if necessary. Sometimes nerves or reading quickly can cause you to miss or gloss over a word or something that changes the context of the question. Take your time and if you need to, whisper the question as you read it.  You may also want to underline certain words that can change the context of the questions (i.e., not, never, always, etc.). This will help ensure you completely understand what is being asked.

Answer the Question Before Looking at the Choices

While it is tempting to look at the multiple choice answers, try to first answer the question before reviewing the possible answer. This can further help you identify the correct multiple choice answer.

Important 2026 Changes to FELE

The Current Florida Educational Leadership Exam is being retired as of December 31, 2025. FELE 4.0 will roll out on January 1, 2026.

Here is some important information that you need to know:

If you’ve already started taking the current FELE, you will need to complete and pass all three subtests before the December 31, 2025 deadline. If you don’t pass all subtests by then, you’ll need to start fresh with FELE 4.0.

If you’re planning to take the FELE this year, then please start preparing for the FELE exam now as you will also need to pass all three subtests before the December 31, 2025 deadline. Order your FELE test prep materials, sign up for a FELE seminar or FELE tutoring, and pick up some FELE flashcards.

If you’re not planning to take the FELE until after 2025, then keep an eye on our website for further information and resources as they become available.
