Understanding the Florida Educational Leadership Exam

The Florida Educational Leadership Exam, also known as the FELE, is an exam designed by the Florida Department of Education to evaluate the leadership skills of individuals aspiring to become educational leaders. The exam is divided into three subtests:

Subtest 1: Leadership for Student Learning

Subtest 2: Organizational Development

Subtest 3: Systems Leadership/FELE Written Response

Important 2026 Changes to FELE

The Current Florida Educational Leadership Exam is being retired as of December 31, 2025. FELE 4.0 will roll out on January 1, 2026.

Here is some important information that you need to know:

If you’ve already started taking the current FELE, you will need to complete and pass all three subtests before the December 31, 2025 deadline. If you don’t pass all subtests by then, you’ll need to start fresh with FELE 4.0.

If you’re planning to take the FELE this year, then please start preparing for the FELE exam now as you will also need to pass all three subtests before the December 31, 2025 deadline. Order your FELE test prep materials, sign up for a FELE seminar or FELE tutoring, and pick up some FELE flashcards.
