Why is It Important to Pass the Florida Educational Leadership Exam?

Passing the Florida Educational Leadership Exam is mandatory for obtaining a Florida Educational Leadership Certificate required for many positions in Florida schools. The certificate requirement applies to positions such as assistant principal, principal, and district school superintendent.

Important 2026 Changes to FELE

The Current Florida Educational Leadership Exam is being retired as of December 31, 2025. FELE 4.0 will roll out on January 1, 2026.

Here is some important information that you need to know:

If you’ve already started taking the current FELE, you will need to complete and pass all three subtests before the December 31, 2025 deadline. If you don’t pass all subtests by then, you’ll need to start fresh with FELE 4.0.

If you’re planning to take the FELE this year, then please start preparing for the FELE exam now as you will also need to pass all three subtests before the December 31, 2025 deadline.
